Who Can Apply? Check Your Eligibility!
To be eligible for these coveted positions, candidates must meet several criteria:
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.
- Health & Character: Must be of sound health, active habits, free from bodily defects or infirmity, and possess character and antecedents suitable for the service.
- Age: Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years as of July 1, 2025.
- Age Relaxation is Applicable:
- SC, ST, BC, and EWS categories receive a 5-year relaxation.
- SC/ST candidates applying for Carried Forward (CF) vacancies receive a 10-year relaxation. Note: Those availing the 10-year relaxation for CF vacancies are not eligible for SC/ST fresh vacancies.
- Age Relaxation is Applicable:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Intermediate Examination or its equivalent as of the notification date. If claiming an equivalent qualification, a copy of the Government Order must be produced to the Commission within 10 days of the last application date.
- Physical Requirements (Mandatory for FBO/ABO):
- Height:
- Males: Not less than 163 Cms.
- Females: Not less than 150 Cms.
- Relaxation: Minimum height is relaxable by 5 Cms for candidates belonging to Gurkhas, Nepalese, Assamese, NAFA, Naga, Manipur, Gauhati, Kummoni, Sikkimese, Bhutanese, and Scheduled Tribes.
- For Scheduled Tribes where the reserved quota cannot be fully utilized, height can be relaxed to not less than 158 Cms.
- Chest:
- Males: Not less than 84 Cms round the chest on full inspiration, with an expansion of not less than 5 Cms.
- Females: Not less than 79 Cms round the chest on full inspiration, with an expansion of not less than 5 Cms.
- For Scheduled Tribes (as above), chest can be relaxed to not less than 78.8 Cms with a minimum expansion of 5 Cms.
- Eyesight: Must possess normal eyesight.
- Medical Examination: All qualified candidates must undergo a Medical Examination by a Medical Board at Rajamahendravaram and produce a health certificate confirming sound hearing, general physical fitness for outdoor forest work, and successful vaccination marks.
- Physical Measurement Certificate: Candidates must obtain a physical measurement certificate issued by a Medical Officer (not below the rank of Civil Assistant Surgeon) and submit it at the appropriate time.
- Walking Test (Physical Endurance Test): This is a qualifying test and does not carry marks.
- Males: Must complete 25 Kms walking in 4 hours.
- Females: Must complete 16 Kms walking in 4 hours.

The Application Journey: How to Apply Online
All eligible and interested candidates must apply online through the Commission’s Website: https://psc.ap.gov.in.
- One Time Profile Registration (OTPR): If you are a first-time applicant for any APPSC post, you must register your bio-data through OTPR on the website to obtain a user ID. This ID will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID. Note: OTPR is not considered an application for any post; you must still apply for the specific post.
- Login and Apply: Login with your OTPR number and password. Click on “Online Application Submission” and then “Fill Application” against Notification No. 06/2025.
- Fill Application Details: Carefully fill in all application-specific data, such as Local/Non-Local status and white card details. Ensure all qualification details and examination center preferences are correctly entered. You can “Save” to partially save, but you must click “Save & Submit” for the application to be finally submitted after successful payment.
- Payment: An application processing fee of Rs. 250/- and an examination fee of Rs. 80/- are required.
- Exemptions from Examination Fee (Rs. 80/- only): SC, ST, BC & Ex-Servicemen, families with a household supply white card issued by Civil Supplies Department (A.P. Government residents), and unemployed youth (as per G.O.Ms.No.439, G.A).
- Other State Candidates: Applicants from other states are not entitled to fee exemption or any reservation benefits and must pay both the processing fee and examination fee (Rs. 250 + Rs. 80 = Rs. 330).
- Fees are paid online via net banking/credit card/debit card and are non-refundable.
- Corrections: Corrections to the application form are enabled for 7 days after the last submission date. A fee of Rs. 100/- per correction will be charged. However, changes to Name, Fee, and Age Relaxations are NOT allowed.
The Selection Process: Your Path to Success
The selection process involves multiple stages, and appearance in all papers/examinations is compulsory, otherwise, it leads to disqualification:
- Screening Test (Preliminary Examination):
- Main Examination:
- Offline (OMR-based) and objective type (except for the essay).
- Scheme:
- Qualifying Test (50 Marks): Writing an essay in English, Telugu, or Urdu on a theme relating to Forests and Environment (Descriptive Type).
- Paper-I (100 Marks): General Studies & Mental Ability (Objective Type).
- Paper-II (100 Marks): General Science and General Mathematics (SSC Standard) (Objective Type).
- Syllabus: Detailed syllabus for both papers is provided in Annexure-II.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Physical Tests:
- Candidates who qualify in the Main Written Examination will undergo a Walking Test and Medical Examination. These are qualifying tests and do not carry marks.
- Computer Proficiency Test (CPT):
- Based on merit in the Main Written Examination and qualification in the Physical Tests, candidates will be shortlisted for the CPT.
- Mandatory Qualifying Test: No candidate is eligible for appointment unless they qualify the CPT.
- Scheme (Practical Type): Proficiency in Office Automation with usage of Computers and Associated Software.
- Duration: 60 minutes.
- Maximum Marks: 100.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- SC/ST: 30 marks.
- BCs: 35 marks.
- OCs: 40 marks.
- Syllabus: Covers Introduction to Computers, Software Types, Operating Systems (Windows, Linux/MAC basics), Internet Concepts, E-Mail, WWW, and Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint or equivalents). Typing speed assessment is a mandatory part.
Bonus Marks: Candidates holding NCC certificates will receive bonus marks at the time of selection:
- NCC-“C” Certificate: 5 bonus marks.
- NCC-“B” Certificate: 3 bonus marks.
- NCC-“A” Certificate: 1 bonus mark.
Final Selection: The final selection will be based on marks secured in the Main Written Examination, along with observing roster points and applying bonus marks for NCC, from among those who have qualified in the Physical Tests (walking and medical examination) and CPT.
Reservation Policies: The recruitment follows both Vertical Reservations (for SC, ST, BC, EWS) and Horizontal Reservations (for Women, Ex-Servicemen, and Meritorious Sportspersons – MSP) as per State Rules.
- Meritorious Sportspersons (MSP): A 3% horizontal reservation is provided for MSP. Selection under this quota is without a written examination, based on a merit list approved by the State Level Committee (SLC). If no eligible MSP is available, the post stands lapsed.
- Women: A 33 1/3% horizontal reservation is applicable.
- Ex-Servicemen: A 2% reservation is provided, with 1% for women ex-servicemen. If no eligible women are available, the 2% can be filled by men. If no eligible ex-servicemen are available, the posts lapse.
- Local Candidates Reservation (Article 371-D):
- 80% of posts are reserved for local candidates, and the remaining 20% are open to both local and non-local candidates in plain areas.
- 100% of posts in the notified scheduled areas of the State are exclusively reserved for Local Scheduled Tribe candidates of the relevant local areas.
- “Local Candidate” definition is based on study/residency in a local area for a specified period (e.g., 4 or 7 consecutive academic years).
- Candidates must produce Study Certificates or Residence Certificates as proof.
- Backward Classes (BC-E group): Reservation is subject to ongoing litigation and government orders. Non-creamy layer certificates are required.
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): Persons not covered by existing reservations (SC, ST, SEBC) with a gross annual family income below Rs. 8.00 lakh are identified as EWS. An EWS Certificate for the financial year prior to application is required.
- Inter-locking Reservation: Horizontal reservations (Ex-Servicemen, MSP) cut across vertical reservations (SC/ST/BC/EWS/Unreserved), meaning these candidates are placed in their appropriate category within the roster.
- Other State Candidates: Not entitled to any kind of reservation.
Important Guidelines and Disqualifications:
- OMR Answer Sheet Invalidation: Failing to bubble or wrongly bubbling the Booklet Series, or tampering with the OMR sheet (whitener, eraser, blade, chalk powder, barcode) will lead to invalidation.
- Answer Key Objections: Initial answer keys will be published. Candidates can file objections within three days, paying Rs. 100/- per objection. Sustained objections will lead to reimbursement.
- Accuracy of Information: The Commission is not responsible for omissions or mistakes made by applicants. Providing incorrect, false, or misleading information, or suppressing material facts, can lead to debarment for up to five years from future APPSC examinations and summary rejection of candidature.
- Malpractice: Penal provisions under Act 25/97 and G.O.Ms.No.385 will be invoked. Impersonation, unfair means, or any attempt to violate fair practices will result in disqualification, criminal prosecution, and permanent debarment from Service Commission exams.
- Electronic Gadgets Banned: Mobile phones (even switched off), calculators, smartwatches, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the examination hall.
- DigiLocker: Applicants are advised to create a DigiLocker Account and fetch their certificates for streamlined electronic verification by APPSC.
- Commission’s Decision is Final: The APPSC’s decision on all aspects of the recruitment process is final and binding. The Commission also reserves the right to alter or modify terms and conditions, or withdraw the notification, if unforeseen circumstances arise.
