Note: This is a departmental examination. Only regularly appointed Stenographer Grade ‘D’ employees of the concerned services are eligible.
Service-wise Eligibility (Approved Service)
- CSSS & Railway Board Secretariat
- Minimum 6 years approved service as Steno Grade ‘D’
- Relaxations applicable for certain batches
- Indian Foreign Service (B)
- 6 years approved service
- 5 years for officials appointed before rule commencement
- AFHQ Stenographers Service
- 3 years approved & continuous service
- ECI Stenographers Service
- 3 years approved & continuous service
- Central Vigilance Commission
- 5 years regular service as Steno Grade ‘D’
Computer Literacy is mandatory as transcription is done on computer.
Age Limit
- No direct age limit prescribed
- Eligibility is based on length of approved service as on the crucial date (01.07.2025)
📝 Selection Process
Selection will be conducted in three stages:
🔹 Part-A: Computer Based Examination (200 Marks)
- General Awareness – 100 Marks
- English Language & Comprehension – 100 Marks
- Duration: 2 hours
- Negative marking: 0.25 mark per wrong answer
🔹 Part-B: Stenography Skill Test (200 Marks)
- Dictation speed: 100 WPM
- Medium: English or Hindi
- Transcription on computer
🔹 Part-C: Evaluation of Service Records
- APAR evaluation (up to 100 Marks)
