🎓 EligiEligibility Criteria (Crucial Date: 01 July 2025)

Note: This is a departmental examination. Only regularly appointed Stenographer Grade ‘D’ employees of the concerned services are eligible.

Service-wise Eligibility (Approved Service)

  • CSSS & Railway Board Secretariat
    • Minimum 6 years approved service as Steno Grade ‘D’
    • Relaxations applicable for certain batches
  • Indian Foreign Service (B)
    • 6 years approved service
    • 5 years for officials appointed before rule commencement
  • AFHQ Stenographers Service
    • 3 years approved & continuous service
  • ECI Stenographers Service
    • 3 years approved & continuous service
  • Central Vigilance Commission
    • 5 years regular service as Steno Grade ‘D’

Computer Literacy is mandatory as transcription is done on computer.

Age Limit

  • No direct age limit prescribed
  • Eligibility is based on length of approved service as on the crucial date (01.07.2025)

📝 Selection Process

Selection will be conducted in three stages:

🔹 Part-A: Computer Based Examination (200 Marks)

  • General Awareness – 100 Marks
  • English Language & Comprehension – 100 Marks
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Negative marking: 0.25 mark per wrong answer

🔹 Part-B: Stenography Skill Test (200 Marks)

  • Dictation speed: 100 WPM
  • Medium: English or Hindi
  • Transcription on computer

🔹 Part-C: Evaluation of Service Records

  • APAR evaluation (up to 100 Marks)

📌 Final merit is based on combined performance.
