COMPUTER \u00a0TERMINOLOGY<\/span><\/h3>\n

Abort:<\/span> To stop a program or function before it has\u00a0finished.
\nAlgorithm:<\/span> A set of instructions that provides a\u00a0solution to a given problem.
\nAnimation:<\/span> A simulation of movement created by\u00a0displaying a series of pictures, or frames. For\u00a0example, cartoons on television. hardware and\u00a0software. The architecture of a system defines its\u00a0broad outlines.
\nASCII:<\/span> American Standard Code for Information\u00a0Inter change. This is a seven\/eight bit code widely\u00a0used in computers for the transfer of data.
\nBandwidth:<\/span> The amount of data that can be\u00a0transmitted in a fixed amount of time. It is usually\u00a0expressed in bits per second (bps) or bytes per second.<\/p>\n

Bit:<\/span> The smallest unit of information in computer\u00a0system. Bit is short for binary digit; either a \u201c1\u201d or a\u00a0\u201c0\u201d.
\nBoot:<\/span> The process of getting the computer started.
\nByte:<\/span> A byte is made up of 8 bits. The amount of\u00a0memory it takes to store a single character.
\nCache:<\/span> A separate area of Primary Memory (RAM)\u00a0where the computer stores a copy of frequently used\u00a0information for quick access. This is meant to speed\u00a0up the operation of the hard disk.
\nCD-ROM:<\/span> Compact Disk-Read Only Memory. This is\u00a0a permanent storage device used to store large\u00a0quantities of information that need not be changed.
\nCGA:<\/span> Color Graphics Adapter. Low-resolution screen\u00a0(640×200 pixels) with color capability.<\/p>\n

Character:<\/span> A number, letter, symbol, or punctuation\u00a0mark.
\nChip:<\/span> A small piece of silicon containing thousands\u00a0or millions of electrical elements. Also called an\u00a0Integrated Circuit (IC).
\nCompatible:<\/span> The ability of one device or program to\u00a0work with another device or program. For example,
\na printer and a computer are said to be compatible if\u00a0they can be connected to each other.
\nConventional Memory:<\/span> The first 640K of electronic\u00a0Memory (RAM) in a computer used to run OS and\u00a0applications.
\nDebug:<\/span> In computer related systems, fixing software\u00a0related problem is known as debugging.
\nDigitize :<\/span> To scan a piece of artwork in very fine detail\u00a0and store it in a form that computer understands.<\/p>\n

DOS:<\/span> It stands for Disk Operating System. It is a single\u00a0user operating system.
\nDVD:<\/span> Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc
\nDynamic:<\/span> Refers to actions that take place at the\u00a0moment they are needed rather than in advance.
\nEDP:<\/span> Electronic Data Processing.
\nE-Mail:<\/span> Electronic Mail. A facility to send electronic\u00a0messages to another person on a computer network.
