PAST TENSE<\/span><\/h2>\n

1. SIMPLE PAST TENSE:<\/span> ( past indefinite tense):
\nThe simple past tense is used for a past action.
\nExample:<\/span>
\n1.<\/span> I saw the Taj Mahal in 1989.
\n( simple past form \u2013 v2 )
\n2.<\/span> PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE :
\nThe past continuous tense is used for an action
\ncontinued at some point in the past.
\nExamples :<\/span>
\n1.<\/span> It was raining at noon yesterday .
\n2.<\/span> We were working at Warangal last year
\n( \u2018be\u2019 form + ING form )
\n3. PAST PERFECT TENSE:<\/span>
\nThe past perfect tense is used for an action completed
\nby a certain point in the past.
\nExample :<\/span>
\nI had passed M.A before 1977
\n( \u2018have\u2019 form + past participle )
\nThe past perfect tense is used for the first of 2 past
\nactions.
\nThe train had gone before I reached the platform.<\/p>\n

4. PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE:<\/span>
\nThe past perfect continuous tense is used for an
\naction continued up to some point in the past.
\nExamples :<\/span>
\n1.<\/span> A.K. Khan, a freedom fighter , passed away
\nyesterday. He had been ailing for some time.
\n2.<\/span> I had been residing in Vizag up to 1997
