Note that the plural form of &#8216;that&#8217; as a determiner is &#8216;those&#8217;. &#8216;That&#8217; and &#8216;those&#8217; is generally used with &#8216;there&#8217; to indicate that the object(s) is not close to the speaker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Examples<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That&#8217;s my friend Tom over there.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> That&#8217;s a pencil you have in your hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">That Clause as Subject of a Sentence<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8216;That&#8217; clauses can introduce a phrase acting as the subject of a sentence. This use of &#8216;that&#8217; clauses is somewhat formal and is not common in everyday speech.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">That as a conjunction<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That can also be used as a conjunction.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">His manners are so bad that nobody invites him to a party.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Bring it to the light so that I can see it better.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You may borrow my car on condition that you bring it before 10 pm.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why do we use that ?
