The comparison is made by considering what part or multiple the first quantity of the second.<\/p>\n<p>Thus the ratio between 5 apples and 15 apples can be possible, but not between Rs 150 and 25 kgs of rice.<\/p>\n<p>The ratio between one quantity to another is denoted by a : b or by a fraction\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/race4job.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/14.jpg\" title=\"Quantitative apititude\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-883\" src=\"http:\/\/race4job.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/14.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"31\" height=\"39\" title=\"1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ex: 2:3 or 5:11 etc.<\/p>\n<p>The two quantities in the ratio are called its terms.<\/p>\n<p>The first term is called the antecedent and the second is called consequent.<\/p>\n<p>The terms of the ratio can be multiplied or divided by the same number.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Types of Ratios: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Duplicate ratio:<\/strong> The ratio of the squares of the two numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ex: 9 : 16 is the duplicate ratio of 3 : 4.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Triplicate Ratio:<\/strong> The ratio of the cubes of the two numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ex: 125: 512 is the triplicate ratio of 5 : 8.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Sub-duplicate Ratio:<\/strong> The ratio between the square roots of the two numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ex: 2 : 5 is the sub-duplicate ratio of 4 : 25.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Sub-triplicate Ratio:<\/strong> The ratio between the cube roots of the two numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ex: 4 : 7 is the sub-triplicate ratio of 64 : 343.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Inverse ratio: <\/strong>If the two terms in the ratio interchange their places, then the new ratio is inverse ratio of the first.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ex: 3 :5 is the inverse ratio of 5 : 3.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Compound ratio:<\/strong> The ratio of the product of the first terms to that of the second terms of two or more ratios.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/race4job.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/22.jpg\" title=\"Quantitative apititude\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-882\" src=\"http:\/\/race4job.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/22-300x54.jpg\" alt=\"2\" width=\"300\" height=\"54\" title=\"2\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.race4job.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/22-300x54.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.race4job.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/22.jpg 359w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RATIO AND PROPORTION RATIO: The number of times one quantity contains another quantity of the same kind.
